The three teenagers suspected in the beating death of a man will appear in court today.

16-year-old Malik jones, 17 –year-old Nicholas Ayala and 18-year-old Anthony Malcolm have been charged with first degree murder and robbery. Jones will appear in court for a preliminary hearing. He has been charged as an adult and ordered held without bail. Malcolm and Ayala are both due in bond court.

Prosecutors say the three confronted 62-year-old Delfino Mora in the alley in the 6300 block of North Artesian Avenue just before 8 a.m. Tuesday.  Delfino was collecting aluminum cans and scrap metal when he was approached by the three attackers.

Jones punched and knocked Delfino to the ground, causing his head to strike the concrete, according to prosecutors.

The West Rogers Park father of 12 was left bleeding and unconscious for three hours until a passerby discovered him and called 911.

Mora died Wednesday at St. Francis Hospital in Evanston. He died from blunt force head trauma according to an autopsy by the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

The group videotaped the beating and posted it on Facebook. The Mora family saw the video and called Chicago Police. An arrest was soon made.

 The Mora family, of the 6000 block of North Washtenaw Avenue, is in desperate need financially. They are accepting donations to help pay for funeral expenses. They plan to hold Mora’s funeral in Mexico.
